Frequently Asked Questions

Most Frequent Questions & Answers

The Cannabis plant contains many naturally occurring compounds called phytocannabinoids. Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 60 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant.

Initially, when you hear the word Cannabis you may associate this with getting high. Though CBD along with many other cannabinoids are not responsible for the “high” feeling you receive when ingesting cannabis and its derivatives.

THC, is the psychoactive cannabinoid that is responsible for the “high” feeling associated with Cannabis.

In Short, Terpenes are the essential oil of a plant. Terpenes are often referred to as the “fingerprint” of the plant. Terpenes and their different combinations create the taste and smell of a plant. Terpenes interact with the Endocannabinoid receptors and neurotransmitters providing a unique experience when smelling, inhaling or consuming them.

Example: Lavender is known for its soothing scent and calming properties. This is primarily because of the terpenes naturally produced in the plant.

Cannabis Derived Terpenes: Like Lavender, Cannabis Strains have their own terpene profile which provides the cannabis plant with its unique aroma and effects. Certain strains cater to specific experiences!

Example: Blueberry Kush is known to have relaxing properties due to the variety of terpenes in the plant! Illuminent Blueberry Kush Oil is high in Caryophyllene Oxide, Myrcene, ala-pinene, humulene, caryophyllene Linalool and much more!

* The FDA and other agencies have generally recognized terpenes as “Safe”.

In every aspect of day-to-day life—from the amount of sleep we get to the food we eat—balance is crucial if we wish to achieve optimal results and gain longevity. In the human body, this “inner balance” is called homeostasis. Homeostasis is maintained when several systems within our bodies work together harmoniously, such as the endocannabinoid system.

Homeostasis: Homeostasis depends on ENDOCANNABINOIDS being properly activated and maintained by the ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM (ECS). The ECS and its receptors are present throughout the body, functioning as a central regulatory system that helps establish and maintain health.

When homeostasis is not maintained, endocannabinoid receptors are waiting to be activated to begin assisting the body to return to its natural balance. Researchers have identified two endocannabinoid receptors, the CB1, and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are found primarily in the brain and spinal cord or central nervous system. CB2 receptors are found primarily in the tissues of the immune system.

CB1 and CB2 Receptors: The body naturally produces endocannabinoids Anandamide and 2-AG. These cannabinoids are responsible for stimulating messages received through CB1 and CB2 receptors and transmitting them throughout the body. Anandamide and 2-AG support the body’s internal systems to deal with disease, pain, pain management, addiction, stress management, inflammation, gastrointestinal response, immune response, memory, appetite, response to rewards, and a plethora of other internal system malfunctions and disharmony.

Exogenous cannabinoids such as phytocannabinoids, which are extracted from cannabis (CBD, THC, CBN), mimic our naturally occurring endocannabinoids (Anandamide and 2-AG). Anandamide and 2-AG’s have an extremely short lifespan. This is why an exogenous cannabinoid supplement is crucial. By consuming phytocannabinoids such as CBD, we replenish our ECS with exogenous cannabinoids when endocannabinoids become deficient.

Cannabinoid deficiency is common due to constantly changing internal and external conditions. These conditions range from external toxins, stress, traumatic experiences, pain, injuries, thoughts, relationships, and conditions we may have been born with or that have been acquired later in life (diabetes, mental illness, seizures, joint and muscle pain, arthritis, etc.) To keep the body in alignment, these variables depend on a reaction from the body’s ECS. Supplementing endocannabinoids with exogenous cannabinoids allows the ECS to counteract, particularly in the case of endocannabinoid deficiency.

Summary: The endocannabinoid system is like a command center for the maintenance of one of the human body’s most important systems in maintaining proper homeostasis. For instance, if you repeatedly lift a weight incorrectly in the gym, the poorly executed movement sends a shooting pain to the muscle group you are working on. Your homeostasis—your balance—has been disturbed externally and this results in internal calamity. The actions and reactions, internal and external, are all directed by signals sent from the body to the brain via the central nervous system assisted by the ECS. The process also occurs in reverse. Our body is full of receptors in constant dialogue. The ECS regulates the systems that deliver and keep those signals being sent and received appropriately and in a timely manner, and also ensures that the body’s internal systems continue to flow regularly and efficiently. Supplementing with CBD Oil helps to ensure that this process works effortlessly.

Illuminent cannot make any claims on whether any of our products will show up on a drug test. Though, our Full Spectrum products do contain less than 0.3% THC and thus the presence of THC may result in a positive drug screen. Even with a trace amount.

Our isolate products upon third party testing contain no detectable amounts of THC. Failing a drug test with Isolate products depends on the testing standards of the lab administering your drug test. Most companies only search for THC, which is the main psychoactive component of Cannabis. While Illuminent Isolate products are THC-Free, there are some testing facilities that check for a spectrum of cannabinoids and could trigger a positive drug test.

You have the right to ask the testing facility what cannabinoids they test for. We suggest contacting the testing facility if there is a concern or talking with your employer prior to taking Illuminent CBD and receiving written permission.

We do not recommend vaping our tinctures. Our tinctures contain MCT oil and could damage your vaping device or waste the oil that you have placed into the vaping device.

Illuminent tinctures are simply a flavor preference, however, with the natural flavoring some have found the mint tinctures to make one more alert or the lavender peppermint to calm one down a little more than normal. The Full Spectrum Vape Oils have terpenes, which the tinctures do not, that make them experience specific. Illuminent Coffee Bean Full Spectrum Tincture does have a small about of caffeine, as the product ingredients are derived from real coffee beans.

Industrial Hemp and Marijuana are from the genus, Cannabis.

There are 3 species within the Cannabis Genus:

  1. Cannabis Sativa
  2. Cannabis Indica
  3. Cannabis Ruderalis

Industrial Hemp is currently classified under the cannabis sativa species. Marijuana may be either Cannabis Sativa, Indica or Ruderalis.

The primary difference between Industrial Hemp and Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) is the level of THC found in the plant.

By Federal Law, Industrial Hemp cannot contain more than 0.3% THC on a dry weight basis.
Marijuana (Cannabis Sativa) Plants will contain more than 0.3% THC.

Hemp has a history of containing long stalks with hardly any flowering buds, which would not produce a cannabinoid rich product or plant.

Recently, USA Grown Industrial Hemp has been bred to have more flowering buds and greater yields of cannabinoids and terpenes to develop hemp derived CBD products and much more.

The cannabinoid profile of hemp is ideal for people interested in the support of the cannabis plant without intoxicating effects.

Hemp is also a great resource for making rope, paper, natural plastic and much more whereas Marijuana is generally used medicinally, recreationally or spiritually.
