Full Spectrum vs. Isolate: What’s the difference?

What’s the difference between full spectrum and isolate CBD?

Full spectrum and isolate are two common terms used to describe CBD products on the market today.  But what do they mean?

First of all, let’s just take a second to appreciate the fact that the mainstream market has jargon for cannabis products in the first place.  If this doesn’t highlight how much we have grown culturally, then we don’t know what does.  We are so stoked on the progress the cannabis industry is making, especially at the federal level.

With wider acceptance of CBD products comes a wider variety of products to choose from.  This is a great thing, guys.  It gives you options, and options are good.  But options can get confusing. All the new CBD jargon does tend to complicate things for those that are new to the industry.  Clarity around any product description is a necessity, especially when you’re talking about a product that you will be ingesting.

Illuminent Full Spectrum vs. Isolate… The Facts

You’re on your favorite CBD website and checking out all the products available.  You start noticing that products come in two different forms: Full Spectrum or Isolate.  Now you’re really stumped.  Which one do you buy?  Does any of this ring a bell? Let’s get down to it.

Full Spectrum

Full spectrum CBD is a “whole plant,” or full plant extract.  Specifically, this means that your full spectrum CBD products typically contain more than just CBD.  Illuminent Full Spectrum CBD, for example, contains a majority of the hemp plant’s cannabinoids (including trace amounts of THC), flavonoids, * terpenes and fatty acids.  These molecules work together to give you what is known as the “entourage effect.” This combination works synergistically to provide you with support for a wide variety of ailments, such as chronic pain and insomnia, helping to boost overall health and wellness.

*What are terpenes?

Terpenes are molecules found in the plant’s essential oils.  Often referred to as the fingerprint of the plant, terpenes are responsible for the associated plant or strain’s look, smell, taste, and therapeutic effect.
